Hair and/or Makeup artists who can confidently:

• Execute the look based on the designer's style instructions
• Color match models of various ethnic backgrounds
• Style models of various ages (our models range from 8 to 75 years old)
• Operate in a fast paced environment

Prior runway makeup experience is encouraged, but not required. 

Many of those involved in Fashion Week Shows are not locals and instead travel from out of town. Some of the artists involved live in a different city, different state, or even different country.

You will be required to coordinate your own housing if you are traveling from out of town. Our H/MUAs (and models) will be added to a private Facebook Group and you are welcome to coordinate with each other sharing a hotel, Airbnb, etc.

Yes, it's common for the hair/makeup positions at Fashion Week shows to be volunteer. That's not because the artistry and hard work of HMUAs is not valued - it's because participating in a Fashion Week is already a big expense for fashion designers...and it's always a risk they won't sell enough clothing to the audience to make that financial investment back.

Some shows provide a hair/makeup team for the fashion designers while others require fashion designers to put together their own teams.

It's important for us to be clear - we are NOT seeking volunteers to provide free labor in order for us to save money. Part of our team already includes a hair/makeup artist able to style everyone - and many of our models are quite talented at applying their own makeup.

We are seeking volunteers because we want to provide an opportunity to hair/makeup artists to be a part of a once-in-a-lifetime experience that is Fashion Week. It's a fantastic experience to add to your resume and can be a useful networking opportunity. And of course, hair/makeup artists will receive high quality Getty images of their work, which make for stunning portfolio pieces.

You'll want to bring beauty makeup look essentials. A suggested packing list (and packing strategies to maximize space for those wanting to only travel with a carry-on) will be sent to our volunteers.
